Curved stairlifts feature a travel rail that is bent or curved to follow the contour of your stairs. If your stairs include an intermediate landing or turn, you will need a curved stairlift not a straight stairlift. You might also want a curved stairlift if you want to add a parking feature at the top of the bottom of the stairs, even if the stairs are straight. Curved stairlift rail is custom configured to your stairs so that the rail remains close the side of the stairs.
These are the different types of staircases that a curved stairlift can accommodate:
Straight with top parking overrun
Straight with bottom parking overrun
Intermediate landing
90 degree turn
180 degree turn
Spiral/curved
Silver Cross measures your stairs using a leading-edge system that takes photos of your stairs and precisely measures the staircase for the perfect fit. For Handicare curved stairlifts, this technology also provides a visual model for you to see what the stairlift will look like when installed.
A curved stairlift installation will take a half day to a full day depending on the complexity of your staircase. The technician installer will also show you how to use your lift and ensure that you are happy with the end result.
